Glock Faqs: History, Generations, And Model Numbers
European Defense and Security magazine published an article detailing the first shipment of Glock's pistol system and federally furnished ammunition. Article - Technical Overview The Interview Section describes the recent history of the Glock MHS transmission, the specifications of their Glock 19 MHS and 23 MHS pistols, and the current feelings among Glock executives about the end of their second run. But since I don't want to bury a leader beyond what I have, here's what Glock International Sales Manager Richard Flür had to say about the future of the Glock MHS outside of the US military:
ESD: Will there be a commercially marketed version of the Glock Modular Handgun System? Flur: Yes. We think this is a great gun and would like to give anyone interested a chance to try it out. All costs related to the development of the pistol are financed by Glock so that it can be marketed independently. Of course, we will be able to make good use of the experience gained through the implementation of this project. Some aspects will be reflected in future Glock products.
The Federal Enhanced Barrier Round is also impressive - to say the least. Vista Outdoor / Federal appears to be building on its experience in manufacturing M855A1 ammunition through Lake City. The new 9mm EBR round uses a similar construction, with a solid steel center and copper jacket with - unusually for US military rounds - extensions or cutouts molded directly into the jacket material. Although this bullet is probably related to the recent development of the American pistol, it is difficult to recall the similarity to the Russian 9x19mm pistol of similar construction.

Deer - legal in my state. Hmmm? Glock 23 is legal in my state. A .40 S&W bullet sprayed in at least 4 inches is considered deer medicine where I live. Add a .40 shot from the cab and the fun increases with the extra power of each leg you get with that long barrel.
Why do you say you can avoid deer with a .40 S&W in these areas? Because it is a powerful circle in itself. His greatest accomplishment may have been years ago, but that didn't make the pumpkin great.
That's still a good person and (according to my state's deer regulations) good deer too. Many law enforcement agencies used (or used) the .40 S&W, especially the FBI, for a while before switching back to the 9mm. It has lost popularity, but the .40 S&W is still very effective. Where does it come from? The .40 S&W came about when the FBI (who took the 10mm printer case) asked Smith & Wesson to take over the 10mm bit. 10mm projectiles work well for them, so they want something that multiple agents can fire effectively. S&W created a .40 with his name on it by cutting a 10mm case and stripping it down a bit, and the FBI accepted it. For a more complete story on the .40, read my pistol box print comparison.
It's especially interesting if you're in your forties. Honestly, I've never owned a gun or chambered a .40. I didn't mind the bullet - I just fired the bullet and loaded the 9mm and .45 ACP. I didn't see the need to go with the .40 since I own a "notebook" around that on the appropriate shelf. I have often thought about getting a .40 and may do so in the future. If I do this the reload will die and the mushroom will be on the next list.
A shotgun that puts out 400 (or more) pounds of power will usually provide a confidence booster. This is especially true if the gun is not large, easy to carry, and holds a dozen or more rounds in the magazine. I think part of the downside of the .40 is that the development of the 9mm printer case has really faded away. Also, there are some nice 9mm loads that provide a pound of energy, just like Hostess Twinkies provide calories.
Because you can load 9mm ammo into the space specified over the ami.40, which makes a difference. Take a look at the 9mm pistol market, most comparable to Glock's best-selling 19 models. This is the same size gun as our Model 23, but can hold two more rounds in its standard magazine over the 23, 15 rounds to 13 rounds.

Here we see the same difference when looking at full size 9mm Glocks and the Model 40 17 and 22. The Model 17 holds 17 rounds in its standard magazine versus the 15.40 rounds in the Model 22.
This is not a real earthquake, but for some it makes a difference. Some people have five J frame shotguns - they don't seem to care about options. Knowing where to place your photos can create a small print box capacity.
Flipped the other way, the .40 S&W magazine you have in your handgun will hold one or more rounds from a similarly sized .45 ACP rifle. Using the same magazine comparison as above, a full-sized Glock 22 in .40 holds two more rounds in its standard magazine than a full-sized Glock 21 in .45 ACP holds 15 to 13.
As a .45 fan, this is not good news, but (as the saying goes) it is what it is. It's amazing to me that you can even have 13.45 ACP rounds available in a gun. Keep to yourself, excluding extra tanks and one in the living room. Ability plays an important role in capacity selection. But the .40 is still a good choice. It sits in the middle between 9mm and .45 ACP and, as Goldilocks discovered, the middle might be the best place.

One thing you may not have thought about attacking and that all of you 23 are worried about is compatibility. By level. If you bought a .357 Sig tank for your Model 23, you now have a gun that size. Your .40 magazine should work since the .357 Sig is based on the .40 case.
At worst, the follower configuration can cause breeding issues, so you should opt for the Model 32 magazine. Another capacity where the 23 easily converts is the 9mm. Buy a hundred dollar conversion kit and a couple of Model 19 magazines and you're in the 9mm business with what essentially becomes a Model 19 that says "23" on the slide. So you can have three weapons for the price of buying the first weapon and some additional ones.
If the ease of changing calibers wasn't enough to make the 23 attractive, I don't know what would be. It's a pretty impressive ability though - a gun.
A .40 bullet will let you know you didn't shoot a 22 caliber rifle. Its bullets are usually described as pistol, especially in handguns. If we remember that the .40 is a descendant of the 10mm, then its agility can be explained. When you push 180 rounds to less than 1000 fps, you will get some backlash associated with the rotation.

You are right on the 400 ft/lbs power of a small .357 Magnum. I mentioned above how this round is legal in my state and I think I can see why. The 10mm will do anything better than the .40 when it comes to hunting, but in terms of concealment and personal protection (read more about self defense insurance) I can see where the .40 is. Advantages compared to 10mm.
